There are a lot of great reasons to get involved in Adventure Challenge; the fun, the workout and the people are just three of many. But the most important reason to participate by raising money, donating or volunteering, are the organizations that will benefit from the proceeds.
Sport for Life and I AM SOMEONE are committed to improving the well-being of kids and teens in Canada. We’d like to tell you a bit more about them.
Since 2005, the Sport for Life Society (previously CS4L) has been working to improve physical literacy and our experience of sport in Canada. S4L works with organizations and communities to develop, implement and measure programs that help children gain motivation, confidence, physical competence and understanding around physical activities, empowering them to stay active and healthy for life.
Through collaboration, inclusion, passion and innovation, S4L strives to establish a physically literate nation, achieving sporting excellence and optimum health.
The 60 Minute Kids’ Club (60MKC) is a fun and engaging program designed to get children in Kindergarten to Grade 8 excited about making the right healthy choices. It also supports meeting federal guidelines for 60 minutes of daily activity.
Recently, 60MKC has partnered with Sport for Life, in order to reach even more children across Canada.
Drawing from the Innovative Fitness formula of incentive / accountability / follow up & our unique engagement strategy, we’re sharing the Innovative Fitness philosophy with kids.
Some program highlights include:
- 3×30 day challenges each school year
- Focus on 6 Healthy Habits: physical activity, healthy eating, screen time, water intake, sleep scheduling, mental health
- Resources to support the development of functional movement systems
The I AM SOMEONE Campaign to End Bullying was founded in late 2012 and officially became incorporated as the ‘I AM SOMEONE Ending Bullying Society’ on June 17th 2013.
The organization’s vision is, “To end the hurt from bullying in Canada through love, understanding and support.”
They aim to achieve this vision by educating and empowering individuals, businesses and communities to be the effective change to end the hurt from bullying through support and technology.
Three race stages, three worthy causes. We hope to see you there!
